Wasim Abbasi the seeing eye of Palestinian resistance in anti-Zionist operations
“Wassam Abbasi” became the eyes of resistance groups in carrying out major anti-Zionist operations due to his work conditions in the suburbs of Tel Aviv.
According to the English section of “webangah News Agency” citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Wassam Saeed Musa Abbasi was born on March 24, 1977, in the town of Silwan in Jerusalem. During the Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2001, he joined the resistance group in Silwan affiliated with the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
He participated in several martyrdom-seeking operations and multiple bombings that inflicted significant human and material losses on the Zionist regime. He was eventually arrested in 2002,and a central court of the Zionist regime sentenced him to 26 life sentences plus 40 years imprisonment. Five months after his arrest, his home was demolished by Israeli forces, who also revoked his Jerusalem residency permit and ID card.
Biography
Wassam lost his father at age 13 and had to abandon education to support his family of six. At 15, he was first arrested by Israeli forces for allegedly planning a grenade attack and sentenced to five months in prison.in 2001, he married and had his only daughter, Iman. While imprisoned, he continued studying at Gaza’s College of Executive Sciences & Professions—earning a diploma in Islamic jurisprudence—and later pursued history studies there as well.
Resistance Background
In 2001, upon invitation from wael Qasim (a key Palestinian resistance commander), Wassam joined al-qassam Brigades to conduct operations inside occupied territories—his role involved scouting locations for attacks due to years working at a glass factory near Tel Aviv that gave him precise geographical knowlege.
His first operation targeted “Café Moment” (75 meters from then-Israeli PM Ariel Sharon’s residence). wassam scouted routes before Fuad al-Hawari executed it on March 9, killing 11 Zionists wounding 65. Later that year under Wael Qasim’s direction another bombing occurred where Wassam worked—Mohammad Jamil detonated himself inside Café Rishon letzion killing 17 injuring 60.
Al-Qassam then pioneered remote-detonation tech via mobile phones targeting fuel trucks; Wassam monitored shipments with comrade Mohammad Odeh before detonation May ’02 destroyed them completely followed by railway sabotage June ‘02 wounding four settlers damaging infrastructure severely repeating similar strikes elsewhere like Kfar ghibron near Yavne south Ramla region too successfully thereafter…
