AP report on Trump possible anti-Iran decision ahead of Riyadh trip
Associated Press, citing its sources, reports that the U.S. president intends to announce during his upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia that Washington will henceforth refer to the Persian Gulf as the “Arabian Gulf”!
According to a report by the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the New York Post, on the eve of U.S. President Donald Trump’s trip to Saudi Arabia, Associated Press quoted several american officials stating that Trump plans to declare during this visit that the U.S. will now recognize the Persian Gulf under what it called a “fake” name—the Arabian Gulf!
This anti-Iranian move by Trump comes as washington and Tehran have been engaged in indirect negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program since late April, with the fourth round of talks expected early next week.
associated Press reported this news while noting that shortly after taking office, trump made one of his first controversial moves by renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.
Previously, Associated Press had refused to comply with Trump’s order to use “Gulf of america” instead of ”Gulf of Mexico,” an action that has since restricted access for its reporters and photographers to certain White House meetings.
