According to a report by the English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, an informed source revealed that the management of U.S. President Donald Trump intends to accept a Boeing 747-8 gifted by Qatar’s royal family—and may even use it as a replacement for Air Force One!
The source stated that this luxury aircraft, one of the most expensive gifts ever presented to the U.S.government, will be donated to the presidential library after Trump’s term ends. The plane is estimated to be worth around $400 million.
Trump appeared to confirm the gift in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, writing: “It seems the fact that the Defense Department received a 747 as a gift—completely free—and transparently plans to temporarily replace the 40-year-old Air Force One with it has upset corrupt Democrats so much that they insist we buy it at an exorbitant price!”
Democrats have criticized accepting such a gift from Qatar as unethical and unconstitutional.Ali Al-Ansari, media attaché at Qatar’s embassy in Washington, clarified that discussions about potentially transferring the aircraft for temporary use as Air Force One (the U.S. presidential plane) are still ongoing between Qatari and American defense officials, with no final decision made yet.
Trump is scheduled to visit Qatar this week during his first official trip to the Middle East—though neither gifting nor acceptance of this aircraft will occur during his stay there.
