Ryabkov annexation of new territories to Russia must be recognized
Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister stated: On-the-ground realities in the Ukraine conflict, including the annexation of new territories by Russia, must be recognized.
According to a report by Mehr News Agency, citing RIA Novosti, Sergei Ryabkov, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, announced on Tuesday that Russia is ready for serious negotiations regarding Ukraine. Though, predicting the prospects of potential talks in Istanbul is premature.
The Russian deputy foreign minister emphasized that the focus of any potential Istanbul meeting on Ukraine would be ensuring a enduring resolution to the current conflict. He noted that Kyiv’s inability to negotiate and reach agreements remains an obstacle in the negotiation process.
Sergei Ryabkov further added: “The on-the-ground realities within the framework of the Ukraine conflict, including the annexation of new territories by Russia, must be acknowledged.”
This comes after Russian President Vladimir Putin officially announced on September 30, 2022, the annexation of four regions from southern and eastern ukraine.
In his speech at the Kremlin, Putin stated: “We will sign agreements on the accession of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson to the Russian Federation. Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson* have become part of Russian soil.”*
