Vetekaf and Rubio head to Istanbul
According to a report by the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, Steve Witkoff, donald Trump’s envoy to West Asia, stated on Wednesday that he and Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, will travel to Istanbul on Friday for russia-ukraine talks.
Witkoff told reporters in Doha that it remains unclear whether Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate in the planned negotiations.
The U.S. President’s envoy to west Asia said regarding this matter: “I am going to Istanbul with Marco Rubio, the Secretary of State. We still don’t know if Putin will come or not.”
Russian and Ukrainian officials recently announced an agreement to hold peace talks in Istanbul. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 15.
