Russia and Ukraine talks end in Turkey Moscow satisfied with results
According to a report by the english section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr News Agency and RIA Novosti, an informed source in Turkey’s Foreign Ministry announced that the meeting between Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul concluded after approximately two hours.
Vladimir Medinsky, head of Russia’s negotiation team, said during a press conference following the Istanbul talks: “The negotiations between Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul have ended. The Russian delegation is satisfied with the results of the talks with the Ukrainian side.”
He added: “Moscow and Kyiv agreed to present thier views and proposals regarding a ceasefire in detail. Russia and Ukraine will soon implement the prisoner exchange process based on the principle of 1,000 prisoners for 1,000 prisoners.”
Medinsky emphasized: “Kyiv proposed a leaders’ meeting between both countries; we have taken this suggestion into consideration.”
The head of kyiv’s delegation at the Istanbul talks also stated: “We discussed issues related to a ceasefire and prisoner exchange. The agenda for further rounds of negotiations will be announced soon.”
The ukrainian Defense Minister stressed: “During discussions in Istanbul, we talked about a ceasefire and also contact and potential meetings between Putin and zelenskyy.”
A RIA Novosti correspondent reported that Russia’s delegation left negotiation premises after concluding discussions with their Ukrainian counterparts—it remains unclear whether they will depart from Istanbul today or not.</P
TASS news agency cited another unnamed source stating there was no specific timeframe set by either party regarding presenting positions or proposals concerning any potential truce agreement.<P<DIV
