Secretary General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation stresses importance of Palestinian cause
According to a report by the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency adn the Iraqi News Agency (WAA), Hussein Ibrahim Taha, Secretary-General of the OIC, stated in his address at the 34th Arab League Summit in Baghdad: “I express my gratitude to the people and government of Iraq for thier warm hospitality.”
The OIC Secretary-General stressed that relations between Arab countries and the Organization of Islamic cooperation reflect deep-rooted ties among them.
Taha described the Palestinian cause as an essential issue for the Islamic world, adding: “The Palestinian issue lies at the heart of our organization’s objectives.”
The OIC Secretary-General noted: “We hope this summit’s decisions will be implemented to safeguard the rights of Palestinians.”
He also emphasized strengthening strategic cooperation between the OIC and Arab League.
