US imposes new sanctions on Iran’s construction sector ahead of fifth round of nuclear talks
The Trump administration has added certain construction materials to its sanctions list, claiming Tehran uses them in its nuclear, missile, or military programs, according to webangah News Agency.
The US State Department asserted in a statement that Iran’s construction sector is controlled by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard corps (IRGC), identifying 10 additional strategic materials for sanctions. These include austenitic nickel-chromium alloy, magnesium ingots, sodium perchlorate, copper-tungsten alloy, and specific aluminum plates and tubes.
Any individuals or entities providing these materials to Iran will face new US sanctions. This move comes as the fifth round of indirect talks between Iran and the US is expected to begin tomorrow.
Foreign Ministry spokesman ismail Baghaei confirmed Iran’s acceptance of Oman’s proposal to hold another round of negotiations this Friday in Rome. The Omani government has been mediating discussions between the two nations.
