US Eases Sanctions on Syria
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, US President Donald Trump met with Abu Mohammad al-Julani, leader of Syrian terrorist groups, during his Middle East trip mediated by saudi Arabia. During the meeting, Trump promised to ease sanctions on Syria—a commitment Washington is now implementing.
Following this growth, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed the sanctions relief for Syria.
“Sanctions reduction is critical for Syria’s progress,” Rubio stated. “Under the Caesar Act, we have issued sanctions exemptions for Syria to increase investment and cash flow in the country.”
Highlighting the Trump administration’s efforts to improve relations with Damascus, Rubio added: “The exemptions will facilitate essential services and reconstruction in Syria. We support the Syrian people’s efforts to build a brighter future.”
The Secretary of State claimed: “Sanctions waivers ensure our partners retain their ability to invest in Syria. These exemptions will ease access to electricity, energy, water, and healthcare while improving humanitarian aid distribution.”
Earlier reports from Western sources indicated Turkey and Saudi Arabia had pushed for lifting US sanctions against Syria. However, Tel Aviv remains opposed to removing Damascus-related restrictions.
