Chemical plant explosion in eastern China kills 5, injures 19, leaves 6 missing.
According too webangah News Agency, China’s state-run Xinhua News Agency reported on Tuesday that an explosion occurred at a chemical plant in Shandong Province, eastern China.
Xinhua confirmed at least five fatalities so far. Chinese media reports indicate 19 people were injured and six others remain missing following the incident.
The explosion struck minutes before noon local time, shaking part of the chemical facility in Weifang City. A towering column of yellow smoke rose into the sky after the blast.
Authorities have launched an inquiry into the cause of the explosion.
