Turkey’s Foreign Minister discusses ceasefire with Hamas

Turkish Foreign Minister discusses ceasefire efforts with Hamas officials.

According to webangah News Agency, Turkey’s ⁤Foreign Minister⁢ Hakan Fidan held a phone call⁤ with political leaders of Hamas on Thursday to discuss ongoing ⁢efforts to establish a ceasefire in Gaza. This follows the U.S.’s newly⁤ proposed truce agreement, which Hamas is currently reviewing.

A Turkish ⁢diplomatic source confirmed the talks, noting that Turkey-as a key regional player-is actively mediating to end the war in Gaza. The same source added that Fidan also spoke ⁤by phone with Qatar’s Prime Minister and ⁢Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman‌ Al ‍Thani about developments in Gaza and Syria, though no ⁤further details were provided.

The discussions come after senior Hamas official Basem Naim criticized the U.S. ceasefire proposal, stating it woudl allow continued ⁢killings of Palestinians in Gaza and fail to stop what he described as “Zionist brutality” in the enclave.
