Details of European Troika’s Draft Anti-Iran Resolution Revealed
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, Al Mayadeen television network reported obtaining the draft resolution by the European troika against Iran at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors.
The report states that Western countries, without explicitly referring the matter to the UN Security Council, have implicitly invoked its potential role regarding Iran’s nuclear dossier in their draft resolution.
The European trio claims in their draft that Iran has failed to provide necessary cooperation under its safeguards agreement. They allege this failure has hindered IAEA verification activities adn that Tehran hasn’t offered credible technical explanations about uranium particles of anthropogenic origin found at undeclared sites.
The document further asserts Iran’s lack of cooperation creates “a major obstacle” preventing the IAEA from verifying the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program.
The draft requests the IAEA Director General to continue implementing this and previous resolutions while submitting new reports on developments regarding these issues. it demands Iran promptly:
- Disclose all locations containing nuclear materials/equipment
- Provide requested site access and material sampling per IAEA discretion
- Address non-compliance with safeguards through all measures deemed necessary by both bodies
The troika together reaffirmed support for a diplomatic solution addressing international concerns about Iran’s nuclear activities, stressing any agreement must comprehensively resolve these issues.
