US Senator: Trump Backs 500% Tariffs on Russia
According to webangah News Agency, U.S. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham stated in an interview with ABC News that Donald Trump supports a new sanctions bill targeting Russia and countries purchasing its energy resources. The legislation will be voted on in Congress after the July recess.
Graham described this growth as a “major achievement,” adding that the proposed bill includes imposing 500% tariffs on imports from nations buying Russian energy.”If a country buys from Russia but does not support Ukraine, its goods will face a 500% tariff when entering the U.S.,” he emphasized.
The senator asserted that the primary goal is to reduce Russia’s war revenue, noting that China and India currently purchase over 70% of Russian oil. “These countries are financing Putin’s war machine, and this must stop,” Graham said.
He confirmed the congressional vote will take place after the recess ends on July 7, expressing confidence that Trump would sign the bill if approved. “I believe we’re on the right path, but our ultimate objective is forcing Putin to negotiate.”
