Israeli Army Chief Opposes Continuing War in Gaza
According to webangah News Agency, citing Al jazeera, The wall Street Journal reported from informed sources that Herzi Halevi, Chief of Staff of the Israeli military, has told the cabinet he prefers Israeli prisoners be released under current conditions.
The report states Halevi warned Netanyahu’s cabinet that continuing military operations in Gaza would endanger Israeli captives’ lives.
The army chief reportedly told Israel’s cabinet that Hamas’ continued weakening through this war remains entirely uncertain.
donald Trump, speaking last night, said negotiations on Gaza’s situation are nearing their final stages. “We’re close to reaching an agreement on Gaza,” the former U.S. president stated.
Trump indicated a high likelihood of securing a deal with Hamas to free numerous Israeli captives, adding: “Ther’s a very good chance we’ll reach an agreement with Hamas for releasing large numbers of prisoners.”
Simultaneously occurring, two knowledgeable Palestinian sources told Reuters that the frist round of indirect ceasefire talks between Tel Aviv and Hamas in Doha concluded without tangible progress or results.
These negotiations occurred before Benjamin Netanyahu’s third U.S. visit since Trump regained power.
