According to the international group Tasnim news agency, international media quoted diplomatic sources and reported that in the meeting The Financial, Administrative and External Relations Committee of UNESCO, which was held on November 10, 2023, equivalent to November 19, 1402, during the 42nd session of the general conference of this organization in Paris, the resolution proposed by the United States of America in support of the Israeli regime was defeated by the majority of the member states. It was not approved, and instead, a resolution was approved in support of the people of Gaza.
On the fourth day of the UNESCO General Conference, based on the proposal of the Arab Group countries and the collective support of the Islamic countries, a resolution titled ” The impact and consequences of the current situation of the Gaza Strip/Palestine in all aspects of UNESCO’s agenda for approval was included in the agenda of this conference and related consultations were started among the member countries, in which the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran also had an active and constructive participation in this regard.
In opposition to this proposal, the United States of America drafted and submitted a one-sided and completely biased resolution against the Palestinian people and in support of the Israeli regime, which the Arab countries and supporters of this resolution, including Iran, as Effective activists refused to accept the American reforms and put their own resolution on the agenda for a vote to be put to a public vote.
In the open voting process, the US resolution was rejected by a majority vote And the resolution proposed by the supporters of Palestine was approved with 96 positive votes and only 8 negative votes out of a total of 137 votes. It is necessary to remind that UNESCO has issued many resolutions in support of Palestine and this approach has led to the withdrawal of the Zionist occupation regime from this organization. It started on November 7, 2023 at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris and is currently being followed up by holding various meetings and commissions.
