Turkey Warns of Suspicious Moves Aimed at Partitioning Syria
According too the english section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Arabic Anadolu, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan warned in a televised interview on Friday that Ankara has detected suspicious movements across northern, southern, eastern, and western Syria following clashes between tribal groups and druze communities in Suwayda province.
He added that Turkey is raising alarms about the risk of Syria’s fragmentation amid exploitation of the situation in Suwayda. “We must issue these warnings because we seek a united Syria,” he emphasized.
Fidan stated that the Syrian issue is vital to Turkey’s national security. He noted how some parties have repeatedly attempted to benefit from Syria’s division and instability. “They want Syria to remain trapped in despair,” he saeid. He also pointed out that Israel shares this goal, referencing Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s clear stance opposing stability in Syria.
