Syria’s ‘Salvation Front’ Formed by 200 National Figures
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Today, over 200 prominent Syrians have officially announced the establishment of the Salvation Front. The group aims to unite various factions and build a democratic Syria.
The front’s statement called for an immediate ceasefire in Suwayda province, delivery of humanitarian aid,and legal guarantees-monitored by domestic,Arab, and international human rights bodies-to prevent further violations. They demand an end to forced displacement of diverse Syrian communities, no demographic changes in Syria’s population structure, exclusive control of weapons by the goverment, and formation of an independent truth-finding committee to investigate crimes committed within Syria.
The statement emphasized that Syria must move toward justice and equality.
It is indeed noteworthy that as attempts to overthrow Bashar al-Assad’s regime began, civilian killings and field executions across Syria have intensified.
