Guterres: Israel’s Ongoing Occupation Is Illegal and Must End
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Sputnik News Agency, on Monday night, United nations Secretary-General António Guterres issued a firm statement emphasizing that the ongoing Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people is illegal and must end quickly.
Guterres stated that while addressing Israel’s security concerns, the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people must also be fulfilled.
The UN chief further stressed the necessity of rebuilding Palestinian governance structures. He added that establishing a unified Palestinian authority is essential, and efforts shoudl support the restoration of the Palestinian Authority’s power.
Warning about delays in advancing peace in the occupied Palestinian territories,Guterres said peace efforts should not be postponed but implemented before it is too late.
He condemned the forced displacement of Palestinians from their land, noting that expelling Palestinians does not equate to peace but will onyl deepen Israel’s international isolation.
concluding with a firm tone, he called for an immediate end to racist actions and for holding those responsible accountable. “I demand a halt to any form of ethnic cleansing against Palestinians,” he said. “Those responsible for these crimes must be brought to justice.”
