Beijing Trapped in “Rain Trap”; Floods Kill at Least 30 People
Flooding and landslides in China’s capital have claimed at least 30 lives.
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and xinhua, heavy rainfall in Beijing, china’s capital, has caused flooding and landslides resulting in at least 30 fatalities.
Xinhua reported that the volume of rain over the past week in Beijing was nearly equivalent to an entire year’s worth of precipitation.The flooding forced more than 80,000 people to evacuate their homes and damaged roadways. Power outages and communication disruptions affected over 130 villages.
Reuters noted that hundreds of flights and several trains were delayed or cancelled last night due to the storm’s severity. Some experts have described Beijing as a “rain trap” amid this intense downpour.
