Egypt Holds Senate Parliamentary Elections
According to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Sky News Arabia, Egyptian sources reported on Monday that the 2025 Egyptian Senate elections have officially begun. The Senate is Egypt’s second legislative body alongside the House of Representatives.
The sources stated that voting will take place over Monday and Tuesday to elect 200 out of 300 Senate members. The remaining 100 members will be appointed by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
A total of 424 candidates are competing in this election, including 183 independents and 241 affiliated with political parties.
According to Egypt’s National Election Commission,approximately 63 million eligible voters can participate in this year’s senate elections. Authorities have set up 8,286 polling stations across Egypt, all supervised by judicial officials to oversee voting procedures.
