Systematic Killing of Journalists in Gaza Amid Global Silence; War on Truth

As October 7, Gaza’s 365-square-kilometer strip has become one of the most perilous places on earth for reporting. journalists who live in Gaza as Palestinians and work under hazardous conditions are now enduring some of their bloodiest times.Covering conflict amid internet and power outages poses huge challenges. Ultimately, they are systematically targeted by Israel to prevent media from exposing the reality of ethnic cleansing crimes committed by Israeli occupiers.
Safinaz Al Louh, an autonomous journalist in Gaza who lost her cameraman brother in the war, told DW: “It is difficult to describe what it feels like to be in Gaza. The constant sound of bombings, explosions, and death tolls is indescribable.”
Since this war began 22 months ago against Gaza, 233 journalists and media activists have been martyred across Gaza Strip, West Bank-and Jerusalem alike. Coinciding with Mahmoud Saremi’s martyrdom anniversary on Journalist Day offered an opportunity to review some local palestinian and non-Palestinian reporters killed by Israeli war crimes-and why they have been deliberately targeted by Israel’s occupation forces; a detailed account follows below.
