Yedioth Ahronoth: Security Services Oppose Netanyahu’s Plan
The English section of webangah news Agency, citing Mehr News Agency adn Al Jazeera, reported that the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth acknowledged that all heads of Israeli security services opposed the plan to occupy Gaza during a cabinet meeting.
Tsahi Hangbi, head of Israel’s Internal Security Council, and the chief of Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency, both expressed their opposition to the Gaza occupation plan at the war cabinet session.
The meeting saw intense divisions and verbal clashes among participants over this proposal. Hangbi warned that implementing this plan would endanger the lives of Israeli captives held in Gaza.
It is notable that his dissent from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s position is very rare.
The Mossad chief also stressed the importance of continuing negotiations with Hamas regarding a prisoner exchange agreement.
