Boat Capsizes in Nigeria; Over 40 Missing

The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Anadolu and Mehr News Agency, ⁤reports that a‍ boat ​capsized in sokoto State in ‍northwestern Nigeria, resulting in⁢ at ⁣least⁢ 40 ‌people⁤ missing.

Nigerian emergency⁤ services⁢ confirmed the incident, stating‍ the boat carried no⁤ fewer than​ 50 ‌passengers at the time ⁣of the accident.

According to ⁤the ⁣national Emergency ‌Management Agency (NEMA), about 10 individuals were rescued, while 40 remain unaccounted for.

The vessel went down en route to Goronyo Market‌ in⁤ Sokoto. Zubaida Umar, Director General of NEMA Nigeria, said rapid response teams have been deployed and that‌ initial reports on ‌the accident are being gathered.

Local officials noted⁤ that search and⁣ rescue efforts have ‌intensified ​to locate ⁢those missing.
