Lebanese President Meets with Trump’s Envoy

Joseph Aoun met⁣ with Donald Trump’s ⁤representative ⁢Tom Barrack at Baabda Palace.

The Lebanese ⁤presidency announced the start of a meeting⁢ between ⁢President Joseph Aoun and ‌Tom Barrack,President Donald Trump’s envoy, along with his delegation at Baabda Palace, according to the‍ English section of webangah News agency citing Mehr News Agency and ⁣Al Jazeera.

Following the meeting, Barrack‌ stated that he ‍seeks increased cooperation in implementing agreements made with‍ Lebanon.

Without mentioning repeated Israeli violations of the ceasefire signed with Lebanon-whose mediation and‍ enforcement are overseen by the United States-he claimed that his only concern is Lebanon’s interests and stopping Israeli misinterpretations.

The U.S. envoy further argued that disarming Hezbollah would benefit ‌lebanon’s Shia community. In remarks described as ⁢shameful, he ⁣insisted there is ⁢no threat against any political faction within Lebanon and emphasized ⁢that disarmament is strictly an ‍internal issue.

Barrack added that he does not intend to sign a new agreement‍ concerning Lebanon but aims ⁢to enforce the existing ceasefire accord.

He promised progress across all sectors for Lebanon⁢ in the future, describing this as leading to better⁤ living conditions for both the Lebanese people and neighboring countries.

The ⁤U.S.claims were⁣ made amid ongoing ‌Israeli incursions into Lebanese territory ⁢today, ‌which-as usual-elicited no response from‌ either Washington or Beirut regarding these⁣ violations.
