Dangerous Heatwave Hits California; Red Flag Warning Issued
The English section of webangah News agency reports, citing Mehr News Agency and The Independent, that a severe heatwave has engulfed much of California and the southwestern United States. With triple-digit temperatures forecast across these regions, authorities have issued wildfire alerts.
In response to the intense heatwave, officials have opened cooling centers in Los Angeles this week for public use. Citizens are also advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities.
California Governor Gavin Newsom has ordered fire teams and resources deployed across fire-prone areas. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for southern California from Wednesday through the weekend (Gregorian calendar).
The agency forecasts temperatures reaching 94°F (34°C) in downtown Los Angeles,with northern valleys preparing for highs around 108°F (42°C). Desert areas are expected to experience even higher temperatures.
The National Weather Service has declared a Red Flag Warning-indicating an increased risk of wildfires-for all of Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties.
