American Magazine Reports Hamas Still Commands 20,000 Fighters
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera via Mehr News Agency, the American magazine The Atlantic quoted an Israeli official who reported that the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas still has around 20,000 fighters. The volume of weapons in the West Bank is described as unimaginable.
The Israeli source admitted, “We are fortunate that the situation in the West Bank has not worsened,” but noted a sharp rise in settler violence against Palestinians. Incidents have increased from fewer than 90 per month at the start of 2025 to over 200 incidents monthly.
The Atlantic also cited Nimrod Sheffer, former Israeli Air Force general, who stated that Tel Aviv’s current strategy in gaza is a continuation of war. This approach benefits only Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu-who faces charges from the International Criminal Court-and his coalition goverment; it does not serve anyone else’s interests.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has committed genocide in Gaza through killings, starvation, destruction, and displacement. It has ignored international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt these actions.
This ongoing genocide has resulted in 61,499 Palestinian deaths and 153,575 injuries. Over 9,000 remain missing. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced and face famine conditions that have claimed many lives-including dozens of children.
Concurrently with the Gaza conflict, Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank-including occupied East Jerusalem-have killed at least 1,015 Palestinians and wounded around 7,000 others. These figures are alongside more than 18,500 Palestinians currently detained.
