Trump Responds to US Spy Operation Against North Korea
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Al-Youm, U.S. President Donald Trump reacted to a question about a failed covert U.S. operation against North Korea in 2019 by stating, ”This is the first time I am hearing about this!”
The new York Times revealed that during this espionage mission approved by Trump, several North Korean civilians were killed by U.S. Navy forces.
The report explains that American special naval forces shot and killed multiple North Korean civilians during a secret mission that ultimately failed. The forces aimed to install surveillance equipment in North Korea amid highly sensitive political negotiations in 2019.
Informed sources said Trump approved the operation during his first presidential term. American troops entered coastal areas at night and encountered a small North Korean fishing boat, which they easily fired upon, killing all aboard.
The U.S. Department of Defense claimed the civilian deaths were justifiable. The operation followed unsuccessful efforts by U.S. intelligence services to recruit human assets inside North Korea.
Since the summit between Trump and the North Korean leader in 2019, bilateral negotiations have been suspended.
