Over 50,000 Palestinians in Gaza Become Homeless in Less Than a Week
According to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing Palestine today via Mehr News Agency, Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for Gaza’s Rescue and Relief Institution, announced that due to severe Israeli strikes and the escalating humanitarian emergency, over 50,000 Palestinians in Gaza-including children, women, and senior citizens-have lost their homes in under one week.
Basal stated that the Israeli army has fully destroyed 12 high-rise residential buildings-each over seven stories tall-with around 500 housing units wiped out. This alone has displaced more than 10,000 people. Additionally, over 120 buildings under seven stories high (averaging three floors) have been targeted, forcing at least 7,200 others from their homes.
He added that more than 500 structures have suffered partial damage amid these assaults. about 30,000 people have become homeless. Furthermore, over 600 temporary shelter tents were also demolished leaving at least another 6,000 displaced without refuge.
Basal highlighted that occupying forces also completely destroyed ten schools and five mosques.
Warning of the growing humanitarian disaster in Gaza, Basal called on the United Nations and international community to promptly intervene to halt the occupation forces’ attacks and protect civilians. He urged relief organizations to provide alternative shelter along with essential supplies such as food, medicine-and other urgent necessities-to support those displaced.
