UNICEF: Gaza Faces Unprecedented Malnutrition Rate in History

UNICEF reports malnutrition affects one in five children in Gaza City, ⁢marking‌ an unprecedented rate‌ in history.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Shehab News Agency, the⁤ United⁢ Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) issued a statement on Wednesday warning of a deepening hunger crisis ⁢in the Gaza Strip. The agency said more than 26,000 children require treatment for severe malnutrition, with⁢ over 10,000 of⁢ those children located solely in Gaza City.

UNICEF added ⁤that among every eight children screened across the⁢ Gaza strip,⁣ one suffers from ⁣severe‍ malnutrition. This ratio ‌rises dramatically to one in five within‌ Gaza City‌ itself-figures representing the highest and most unprecedented rates of malnutrition recorded to date.

The institution ‍reported that nutrition centers‍ across Gaza were forced to close this week due to evacuation ⁢orders and escalating military conflict. These closures have severely worsened the humanitarian situation.

UNICEF condemned Israel’s forced displacement of more than half a million children living⁣ in gaza, who have already endured over 700 days of war-related harm. The ‍agency emphasized the urgent need for immediate action to ⁢ensure children’s⁤ access to‌ food aid and medical treatment throughout the entire Gaza Strip.
