Japan Limits Response to Verbal Condemnation of Zionist Military Operation in Gaza
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr News Agency and Arab News, Japan strongly condemned the start and intensification of Israeli ground operations in Gaza. Tokyo warned that these actions would worsen the existing severe humanitarian crisis, including famine in Gaza.
Japanese Foreign Minister Takashi Iwaya issued an official statement calling israel’s military assault on Gaza “wholly unacceptable.” However, Tokyo has yet to take any measures to halt the occupiers, including sanctions.
The unusually stern statement quoted by Arab News reads: Japan is deeply concerned about Israel’s ongoing aggression and recent military operations, which threaten to undermine the very foundation of a two-state solution.
The foreign minister’s statement adds: We strongly urge Israel to promptly cease all unilateral actions that conflict with pursuing this solution. We call on all parties, including Israel, to return to negotiations and work in good faith toward a ceasefire and the release of prisoners.
Iwaya further urged Israel to take urgent concrete steps to end the grave humanitarian crisis-especially famine-and strictly adhere to international law, including international humanitarian law.
