European Commission: 600,000 Gaza Residents Face Famine
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera via Mehr News Agency, Anwar Al-Aouni, spokesperson for the European Commission, announced that more than 600,000 Palestinians face starvation because of the siege on Gaza and Israel’s continued policy of starving residents there.
On wednesday, the European Commission proposed unprecedented measures against Israel. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the Commission, said: “The horrific events occurring daily in Gaza must stop promptly. There must be an immediate ceasefire along with unrestricted access to all humanitarian aid and the release of all prisoners held by Hamas.”
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that hospitals in gaza-already under immense strain-are nearing collapse due to intensified Israeli ground attacks in northern Gaza. The organization called for an end to these inhumane conditions.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General, wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Military aggression and evacuation orders in northern Gaza are triggering new waves of displacement. Families already traumatized psychologically are being pushed into increasingly confined areas unfit for dignified living.”
He further cautioned that hospitals previously overwhelmed are now on the brink of failure as escalating attacks obstruct WHO’s delivery and supply of vital medical equipment.
