European Commission: 600,000 Gaza Residents Face Famine

The ‍European Commission spokesperson ⁣stated that approximately 600,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are ​suffering from famine due ‌to Israel’s⁤ ongoing blockade preventing humanitarian aid from entering.

According to⁢ the English section of webangah News ‍Agency, citing ⁢Al Jazeera via⁢ Mehr News Agency, Anwar Al-Aouni, spokesperson for the‍ European Commission, announced that more​ than 600,000 Palestinians face starvation because of ​the siege on Gaza and Israel’s⁤ continued policy ⁤of starving residents there.

On wednesday, the European ‌Commission proposed unprecedented measures against ‍Israel. Ursula ⁣von der‌ Leyen, President of ​the Commission, said: “The horrific events occurring daily in Gaza must stop promptly. There must be an ‍immediate ceasefire along with unrestricted access to⁤ all humanitarian aid and the release of all prisoners held by Hamas.”

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that hospitals ​in gaza-already under immense strain-are nearing collapse due to intensified⁤ Israeli ground attacks in northern​ Gaza. The organization ⁣called for an end to‌ these inhumane​ conditions.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General, wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Military‍ aggression and evacuation orders in⁢ northern Gaza ⁢are triggering new waves of ​displacement. Families already traumatized psychologically are being pushed into⁢ increasingly⁢ confined areas unfit for dignified living.”

He further cautioned that ⁤hospitals previously overwhelmed are now on the brink of failure as escalating attacks⁢ obstruct ​WHO’s delivery and supply of vital medical equipment.
