Cuba Condemns Western Anti-Iran Efforts at Security Council
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno rodríguez criticized Western attempts regarding United Nations sanctions on Iran in a tweet on Saturday, according to teh English section of webangah News Agency.
He stated: ”We reject the UN Security Council’s move to reinstate sanctions against Iran, which undermines the contry’s sovereign right to peacefully develop its nuclear program and targets efforts to promote stability in the Middle East.”
The day before, the security Council voted on a draft resolution to permanently lift sanctions against Iran. The proposal failed to secure enough support.
Russia, China, pakistan, and Algeria were among those who voted in favor of the draft.
The session followed a 30-day process initiated by Britain, france, and Germany on August 28 aimed at reinstating UN sanctions against tehran.
The European trio claimed that Iran had not complied with its commitments under the 2015 nuclear agreement designed to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons-a claim consistently denied by Iranian officials.
