Indonesia: When Palestinians Are Denied Legitimate Rights, Silence Is Not an Option
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing the United Nations website,Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto addressed the 80th UN General Assembly, stating that when legitimacy and justice are denied to Palestinians, silence is not an option. He emphasized the deployment of forces to support peace in Gaza and expressed readiness to send indonesian men and women there to protect peace.
“The tragedy in Gaza is unfolding before our eyes. People are dying of hunger. Should we stay silent? We must act,” he said.”The situation in Gaza is heartbreaking, and Palestinians there are calling on us for help to save themselves. We fully support establishing two states in Palestine; this is the only solution.”
president Subianto added, “We are among the largest contributors to peacekeeping forces and will do whatever is necessary to achieve peace worldwide. We need a strong United Nations and will continue supporting international organizations.”
“We understand what deprivation of justice means-during colonial times, we lived with fewer rights than dogs,” he said. “we witness disregard for law and basic human values. we cannot remain silent when even here in this hall justice for Palestinians is withheld. Oppression can never prevail anywhere.”
He also addressed climate change: “We face direct impacts such as a critically important annual rise in sea levels. This year, we achieved our largest rice production ever and will provide it to Palestine and other countries in need.” He concluded by affirming Indonesia’s commitment ”to genuinely confront climate change-not just through slogans.”
