Siyarto: Russia-US Relations Increase Chances of Resolving Ukraine Crisis
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing RIA Novosti via Mehr News Agency, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó stated on Tuesday that maintaining relations between Russia and the United States enhances the possibility of resolving the Ukraine crisis.
Speaking on the sidelines of the United Nations general Assembly, Szijjártó added that preserving Russia-US ties raises the realistic chances for peace in Ukraine. Success in settling the crisis depends on whether Moscow and Washington can reach an agreement.
Previously, he emphasized that Hungary continues to view transferring EU military training missions for Ukrainian personnel to Kyiv as a red line and will not support it. Budapest also opposes European sanctions targeting Russian energy companies upon which Hungary relies for its energy supply. “They” (EU members) will certainly push for new financial aid and arms deliveries to Ukraine, and also efforts to accelerate Ukraine’s path toward EU membership, he saeid.
