Iraq Ready to Serve as Bridge Between East and West

The⁤ President of Iraq emphasized that his country is ready to serve ⁢as a bridge between East and West.

According to ⁢the‍ English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the official Iraqi news agency (INA), Abdul Latif Rashid, President of iraq, stated at the ‍80th United Nations General assembly session⁣ in New York that Iraq is‍ prepared to act as a link and dialog platform⁣ between East and West.

He stressed that Iraq has ⁢regained its⁢ natural position ⁤within ⁤the international ⁤community and in relations with its neighbors.

Expressing⁤ gratitude for the United Nations’ role‍ in supporting democratic processes in Iraq, ⁣the president said: “The UN has consistently supported the Iraqi people by backing democratic procedures and​ election institution.”

Highlighting Baghdad’s readiness for ⁣parliamentary elections, he added: “Iraq is on track for a peaceful transfer of power. In cooperation with the judiciary, we are working to hold free, fair, and obvious elections.”

Recalling Iraq’s victory ​over terrorist groups, Rashid noted: “With assistance from friends and allies, Iraq was‌ able to overcome one of the ​most dangerous terrorist threats worldwide.”

He underlined the need for comprehensive efforts against terrorism: “Terrorism has a singular⁤ nature; no distinctions should be made ‌among its various faces.”

The president also ⁣called for decisive action⁣ against those who‌ support terrorism financially ⁤or militarily.

Rashid confirmed that Baghdad continues its ⁢efforts to facilitate⁢ the return⁤ of displaced persons to⁢ areas liberated from terrorist control.

Regarding developments in Gaza,⁢ he asserted that what is happening‍ there‌ reflects discriminatory application of human rights and justice.

He urged the international community to ‌implement United Nations resolutions fully and assist Palestinians in establishing an self-reliant state.

The Iraqi president ‌emphasized: “The establishment of a Palestinian state is the only path toward security and stability in both the ​Middle East ‍and globally.”

Welcoming​ global recognition of Palestine ‍as a⁤ state, he condemned zionist actions against ‍regional countries including⁤ Syria, Lebanon, and most recently Qatar.
