U.S. Renewedly Claims Presence of Resistance Weapons in Lebanon
according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Tom barrett, the US Special Envoy for syria, spoke to Al Jazeera with interventionist remarks on Lebanon’s situation.He claimed that if the Lebanese want a unified government and army, Hezbollah’s weapons must be disarmed to prevent civil war.
Without mentioning America’s destructive role in Lebanon’s crisis or it’s support for groups aligned with Israeli interests there, Barrett asserted that Washington supports any action leading to “independent decision-making by the Lebanese.”
Referring to the ceasefire agreement between lebanon and Israel, he said its conditions have yet to be met. Lebanon accuses Israel of violating the deal; Israel makes similar claims against Lebanon. The main issue remains a lack of dialog between both sides.
The US envoy added that Washington is not guarantor of the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel.
He also echoed Israeli officials’ statements aligning with Tel Aviv’s interests by claiming Israel believes the ceasefire has not been implemented and Hezbollah is rebuilding its military capabilities.
