Protests Erupt Across Latin America Following Zionist Regime Attack on Samoud Fleet
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Anadolu, thousands of people in several Latin American cities protested against the interception of the international Samoud fleet. The fleet, aiming to break the Gaza Strip blockade, was seized by Israel’s naval forces. Demonstrations took place in Mexico City, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, and Montevideo.
In Bogotá, Colombia’s capital, protesters gathered outside the National Business Association representing the country’s private sector. This location was chosen after “Global Movement Towards Gaza” accused this association via its X (formerly Twitter) account of direct ties with Israel’s economic representation in Colombia. The association later denied these claims in a statement.
In Buenos aires, Argentina’s capital, hundreds joined demonstrations condemning Israel’s attack on the samoud fleet and called for an end to what they described as genocide in Gaza.
Montevideo, Uruguay’s capital, also witnessed protests where activists chanted slogans demanding freedom for Palestine and carried placards calling for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s imprisonment.
Mexican protesters gathered outside their Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Mexico City demanding the release of all detained members of the Samoud fleet-including seven Mexican nationals captured by Israeli forces.
The international Samoud fleet comprised over 40 ships and more than 500 volunteers from approximately 40 countries. It was intercepted last night about 80 nautical miles from Gaza by Israel’s navy.
Organizers reported that nine vessels were seized during this operation and that one ship was attacked while still navigating international waters.
