Hamas: We Will Respond Soon to Trump’s Gaza Plan
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Mohammad Nazzal, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, told Al Jazeera that they received the plan attributed to Trump last Monday night.
Nazzal added that internal and external consultations began on the second day after receiving the proposal.
The senior Hamas official said the U.S. plan contains certain considerations, and they will soon announce their position on it.
“As representatives of the resistance, we have the right to present our views on this plan in a way that serves the interests of the Palestinian people,” he stated.
He emphasized that Hamas intends to discuss the U.S. proposal with an aim to stop war and massacre. The final outcome cannot involve relinquishing Palestinian rights or allowing genocide to continue.
Nazzal further noted interaction with mediators as well as Arab and Islamic parties is ongoing, underlining their serious commitment toward reaching an understanding based on halting genocide.
“We stress that we prioritize our people’s interests and will not allow mass killing of Palestinians to persist,” he said. “We will announce our position very soon; this process will not take long.”
The White House had earlier stated in a release that highly sensitive negotiations are underway regarding ending the war in Gaza. It also noted Hamas has three to four days to respond to a ceasefire proposal for Gaza.
It is noteworthy that Trump’s biased plan aims at increasing U.S. support for Israel while disarming resistance groups, without any reference to establishing a Palestinian state.
