Mahmoud Abbas Says Hamas’ Engagement with Trump Plan Is Positive
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera via Mehr News Agency, Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority, welcomed Hamas’s positive stance on the release of Israeli prisoners and their cooperative approach at this stage.
Without mentioning Washington’s full support for what he called genocide in Gaza, Abbas expressed gratitude for US President Joe Biden’s extensive efforts to end the Gaza war.
Abbas added that their current priority is a complete ceasefire in Gaza, immediate prisoner releases, entry of humanitarian aid into the area, and guarantees against displacement or annexation of residents’ lands. he also emphasized that reconstruction efforts in Gaza must begin promptly.
He stated that sovereignty over Gaza belongs to Palestine and stressed that coordination between the West Bank and Gaza Strip shoudl occur through an administrative committee alongside Palestinian security forces.
