Gaza Residents Celebrate Ceasefire Agreement Announcement + Video
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing reports from al Jazeera, residents of Gaza took to the streets early Thursday to celebrate a ceasefire agreement that paves the way for ending the war in Gaza based on US President donald Trump’s peace plan.
Images from Gaza show gatherings of Palestinians in the streets across central and southern parts of the Strip. Residents have stood firm against threats and intimidation by the Israeli regime,refusing to leave their city despite pressures.
Meanwhile, dozens gathered at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, located in central Gaza, expressing their joy over the proclamation of the ceasefire.
Khan Younis city in southern Gaza also witnessed street celebrations following news of the ceasefire. Over two years, Gaza has endured what has been described as a genocidal war resulting in more than 67,000 deaths and 169,000 injuries.
The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas officially announced last night that a ceasefire agreement had been reached during negotiations at Sharm El-Sheikh between resistance groups, mediators, and Israel. the deal calls for an end to hostilities in Gaza, withdrawal of occupying Israeli forces, entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, and prisoner exchanges.
US President Donald Trump stated that both Israel and Hamas have agreed to this first phase of a truce in Gaza. He added that all Israeli prisoners will soon be released and that Israel will pull its forces back to agreed-upon lines.
