Jordanian Expert: Resistance Achievements in Gaza War Were Unprecedented
According to webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Nidal Abu Zeid, a Jordanian military expert, told the Palestinian Shihab News Agency that what Gaza has achieved over more than two years of conflict with Israel is unprecedented.
He described the 733 days of fighting in Gaza as a turning point in confronting the occupiers. Despite extensive destruction, Gaza prevented Israel from reaching any military or political objectives.
Abu Zeid highlighted that Gaza’s resistance stood against israel’s war machine-ranked 18th among world armies and equipped with nuclear weapons-and emphasized that internal unity thwarted occupiers’ attempts to create divisions between the resistance and local population.
The Jordanian expert noted that as 2008, Gaza has experienced five wars. Therefore, the October 7 battle was not an isolated event but a continuation of a long-standing and deep-rooted resistance.
He added that despite blockade and devastation, the civilian base never revolted against the resistance; rather, it remained a firm foundation for national projects. The success of sustained steadfastness throughout the war reflects an evolution combining field operations by resistance forces with comprehensive popular support. The people of Gaza supported not only thru action but also through conviction and belief. Their slogan was clear: stones and trees might potentially be destroyed; humans may be martyred; but the idea of resistance will never die.
According to Abu Zeid, this recent war experience strengthened ideas about initiating a new stage in Palestinian resistance-one capable of restoring Palestinian rights in both Gaza and the west Bank and also fostering national unity based on opposing occupation.
abu Zeid stressed that popular backing for resistance in Gaza has never wavered except among a few lawbreakers who were unsupported even by Israel itself. Thus, reliance must remain on Gazans going forward-people proven to be the cornerstone of resistance and the core foundation of Palestine’s national project.
