Sudan Issues Stark Warning to Leave Sharm El-Sheikh if Netanyahu Attends
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Iraq’s WAAR news agency via Mehr News Agency, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani informed Egypt and the United States on Monday that he woudl walk out of the Sharm El-Sheikh peace summit if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attends.
A senior source revealed that no official invitation has been extended to Netanyahu by Egypt. Instead, former U.S. President Donald Trump has made efforts to secure Netanyahu’s participation through various contacts aiming to guarantee his attendance.
The source added that al-Sudani made it clear to both Egypt and the U.S. that iraq’s withdrawal from the summit in case of Netanyahu’s presence is a firm stance.
He also noted that other participants share Iraq’s position, which ultimately thwarted Trump’s attempts to bring Netanyahu to the summit.
The source emphasized that this message from Iraq goes beyond its immediate meaning, demonstrating Baghdad’s sovereignty in decision-making and its influence in regional affairs.
It is worth noting that Benjamin Netanyahu has already declared he will not attend the Sharm el-sheikh meeting.
