Oliyanov: Security Council Ends Review of Iran Nuclear Issue
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s Permanent Representative to International organizations in Vienna, wrote on the social media platform X today, Saturday, that based on paragraph 8 of Resolution 2231, the UN Security Council has concluded its consideration of iran’s nuclear issue. As an inevitable result, “non-proliferation” will no longer be among the topics on the Council’s agenda.
Seyed Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s Foreign minister, emphasized in a letter to the UN Secretary-General adn Security Council president that any claims regarding “revival” or “reinstatement” of ended resolutions are fundamentally invalid. He stated these claims lack legal basis and cannot carry binding effect.
Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy for Legal and International Affairs at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also wrote on X about Iran’s active diplomacy and unity among self-reliant countries defending the rule of law against the illegal moves by three European states to activate the so-called snapback mechanism. He noted that five key documents and statements have been released over the past three days clearly demonstrating and reasoned explaining the illegitimacy of these European countries’ unlawful attempt to restore sanctions lifted under Security Council Resolution 2231.
