Washington Claims Commitment to Supporting Lebanon
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, reported that the U.S. state Department issued a statement backing Lebanon by disrupting Iran’s covert financing network for Hezbollah-without condemning Israel’s attacks on Lebanon.
The State Department alleged that Lebanon is under the control of Hezbollah and Iran, warning that Iran and Hezbollah must no longer be allowed to hold Lebanon hostage.
This statement came amid ongoing Israeli regime attacks on Lebanon, openly and covertly supported by the United States.
In recent days, Israel launched a fresh wave of assaults against Lebanon.
On Thursday evening, Israeli warplanes carried out brutal strikes against the populated areas of Aita al-Jabal and Tair Debba in southern Lebanon.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned these aggressions as a complete crime under international law and described them as heinous political offenses against southern lebanon.
