Security Council Lifts Sanctions on Joulani
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and russia Al-Youm, the United Nations Security council approved a resolution on Thursday that removed sanctions against Abu Muhammad al-Julani, head of the terrorist group ruling Syria, and his Interior Minister Anas Katoub.
The draft resolution, proposed by the United States to the Security Council, passed with 14 votes in favor and one abstention.
China, as one of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, cast the sole abstaining vote on this resolution.
The sanction relief for al-Julani came just before his scheduled visit to Washington. Earlier this week, the White House announced that President Donald Trump would meet al-Julani at the White House on Monday.
syria’s Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shibani stated that during his official trip to washington, al-Julani would discuss issues including lifting remaining sanctions, rebuilding syria, and counterterrorism efforts.
previously,Americans also lifted their own country’s sanctions on leaders of al-Julani’s regime to increase support for this terrorist regime.
