Global Leaders Severely Criticize Trump at Climate Change Summit

World​ leaders criticized⁤ the U.S. government’s environmental policies at the climate‌ change summit.

According too the English section of​ webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News​ Agency and the‌ American publication Politico, while U.S. ‍President Donald Trump did not ‍attend the 30th Global‍ Climate ⁢Summit in Brazil,⁢ several ‌world leaders used their speeches to condemn his absence and his management’s‍ anti-environmental stance.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro criticized Trump’s absence at the summit, stating that⁤ “Trump ‍is anti-human.”

Chilean President Gabriel Boric referred to ‌Trump’s September speech at the United​ Nations General Assembly, where he called human-caused climate ‍change⁢ a “hoax” and ​a “lie by bad actors,” rejecting ⁣those remarks.

Brazilian ⁤President ⁣Lula da Silva,hosting the two-week‌ summit,attacked hardliners spreading false information about climate change without⁤ naming ‍Trump. He​ urged participating countries to develop⁣ a ⁤roadmap‌ to end fossil fuel use.

Since returning‍ to the White ⁤House, Trump has prioritized support for coal, oil, and gas while seeking to ⁣restrict clean energy initiatives domestically and abroad. He ​has also withdrawn ‌the U.S. from the Paris Agreement for a second time and tried to⁣ strengthen American fossil fuel markets through tariff threats.

European⁤ leaders ‍and⁢ representatives from other nations expressed disappointment over America’s absence but some framed it as a⁢ self-interested economic​ decision.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that the ⁣global alliance formed ten years ago leading to the Paris Agreement is unraveling as countries like America withdraw.

Chinese ⁤Vice‍ Premier​ Ding Xuesong affirmed China’s commitment to⁤ its obligations during ⁤his speech. Although ‍he did not mention ⁤trump directly, he stressed creating a healthy‌ surroundings for global trade and cooperation.
