Putin to Visit India on December 4

Russian President Vladimir‌ Putin will visit India on December 4 and 5.

The Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel to India on December 4 ‌and⁣ 5, according to the English section⁢ of⁢ webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Al-Youm.

The visit is by the invitation of Indian Prime Minister ⁢Narendra Modi.

Earlier, Yuri Ushakov, Putin’s aide, described the trip as exceptionally significant.⁤ He said both sides have been ⁢actively preparing for the meeting over recent weeks. A series of important agreements are expected to be finalized in energy, defense, and technology sectors.

This visit comes amid increasingly tense relations between India and the United States under President Trump’s governance.

Washington’s tough trade policies against India, clear disagreements over tariffs, and pressure from the Trump ‌administration to limit Delhi’s ties with Moscow have prompted India to reinforce its customary relationship with Russia once again.

In recent ⁤months, Indian officials have repeatedly criticized Washington’s “unilateral behavior.” Experts ‍believe⁣ Delhi aims to balance great power dynamics- a balance presently shifting more strongly in favor of Russia ‍than ⁢ever before.

The state-level meeting between Putin and Narendra Modi sends a clear diplomatic message to⁢ Washington: India does ⁤not intend to fully align with the U.S. in its rivalry with ⁤Moscow⁣ despite escalating tensions with ⁣the Trump administration.

while defense cooperation remains central-ranging from S-400 missile systems to joint military projects-the pressures and ⁢restrictions imposed by Washington have led New Delhi to increasingly depend on Moscow for its defense ⁤and energy needs.

According to Ushakov, Putin’s upcoming visit ⁤will yield “significant achievements,” as both ⁤countries finalize a strategic agreement package that could usher Indo-russian ⁣relations into a ⁣new phase.
