Reuters Identifies Ukraine as Responsible for Attacks on Tankers in the Black Sea

Reuters identified the Ukrainian security service as ⁣responsible for the attack on oil tankers in the Black Sea.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News⁣ Agency, Reuters quoted a knowledgeable source within Ukraine’s security‍ service stating that Kyiv was behind the recent attack on oil ⁢tankers belonging to Russia’s “shadow fleet” near‌ Turkey in‌ the Black Sea.

The source told Reuters that‌ both tankers had ⁢been sanctioned by‌ Western ‌countries⁢ during the war ⁢due to carrying Russian oil.

the ⁣report explained that Ukraine used⁤ unmanned‍ vessels to carry out ⁢the‍ attack, disabling the tankers.

According to this official, the operation was⁣ a ⁤special mission by Ukraine’s ⁤security and ‌naval forces. Videos shared on Ukrainian media show drone⁢ boats approaching and detonating explosives on these tankers.

Western media claim that following russia’s invasion of Ukraine and broad Western sanctions against Russian oil exports,Moscow created a “shadow fleet” ‌composed of dozens of old tankers often registered under third-country flags. This ⁤fleet exports Russian oil outside official channels ⁣by frequently disabling tracking systems and navigating secure routes to circumvent restrictions.

Over the past year,Ukraine has increasingly deployed high-speed drone ‍boats with remote navigation systems against Russian maritime infrastructure and assets. These drones have become ‌key tools for‌ Kyiv in countering Russia’s naval ⁣superiority.
