Iraqi Political Coalition Member: US Troop Presence Cannot Be Extended

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al-Maaloumeh, Issam Shakir, a member of Iraq’s Coordination Framework coalition, emphasized that speculations about extending the American military presence are nothing more than illusions promoted by certain individuals.
He added that the Iraqi peopel oppose extending these forces’ stay in their country. The decision to expel foreign troops, particularly Americans, was made by the joint coordination committee between Baghdad and Washington.
Shakir stated that Iraq does not require combat forces from abroad in any region and that its security forces are capable of handling both internal and external challenges.
He affirmed that withdrawing these forces benefits Iraq and enhances internal stability.
