Chinese Begin Visa-Free Travel to Russia Following Putin’s Order

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and TASS, Russian President vladimir Putin has issued a decree exempting Chinese tourists and businesspeople from visa requirements for short-term trips to Russia.
The decree, effective immediately, allows Chinese citizens holding ordinary passports to enter or transit through Russia without a visa for up to 30 days. This applies to tourism,business visits,and participation in scientific,cultural,political,economic,or sporting events. The exemption is valid until September 14,2026.
The order emphasizes that this facilitation is based on the principle of reciprocity. China had previously introduced a similar visa exemption for russian nationals under the same timeframe.
However, the visa waiver does not extend to Chinese citizens seeking employment, study opportunities, long-term residence, or involvement in international road transport activities within Russia.
