Chinese Begin Visa-Free Travel to Russia Following Putin’s Order

Russian President orders visa-free ‍short-term travel for Chinese tourists ⁤and businesspeople.

According to the⁢ English section of ​ webangah News Agency, citing ⁣Mehr News Agency and TASS, Russian President vladimir Putin has issued ⁣a decree exempting Chinese tourists⁢ and businesspeople from visa requirements for short-term trips⁤ to Russia.

The decree, effective immediately,‌ allows Chinese citizens holding ordinary passports to ⁤enter ​or transit through⁢ Russia without a visa ‌for up to 30 days. This applies to tourism,business visits,and participation in scientific,cultural,political,economic,or sporting events. The exemption is valid until September 14,2026.

The order emphasizes that this facilitation is⁣ based on the principle of reciprocity.⁢ China had previously introduced ⁣a similar visa exemption‌ for russian nationals under⁢ the same‌ timeframe.

However,‍ the visa waiver does not extend to Chinese citizens seeking employment, study opportunities, long-term residence, or involvement in international road transport activities within Russia.
